How does one get KleenWeb™?

When you click on the button at the bottom of this page, you will begin a Registration, Purchase, Download and Install procedure which should not be interrupted.

Therefore, the following are advisories to know before you proceed:

Pay close attention to all information provided on the screens.

Do not just look for the "next" button to finish a process and "get going." KleenWeb is software you will be installing, which requires new knowledge, attainable by reading instructions and learning how to use it. Though it may take just a few moments for you to provide us the information we need, and though it will take just a few moments to get the software onto your computer, you should allocate at least fifteen to thirty minutes to read and understand the preparatory and follow up procedures. If you can't dedicate this time slot now, wait until you do have the time to do this right. KleenWeb is a powerful program that will control all internet access. Please don't skip steps or knowledge provided to you.

Review (and follow where applicable) the following, before a KleenWeb installation:

  • If your computer's Operating System is Windows Vista, read this first.
  • You will need to be logged in to the computer with Administrator-level privileges.
  • Your Windows Operating System must be up-to-date with all high-priority security updates. You can check or do this at http://update.microsoft.com
  • Clear your Internet browser's cache (click here for more info) and/or delete all temporary Internet files
  • If you are not using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your Internet browser, go to the home site for your browser and install any updates that may be available.
  • Temporarily turn off any anti-virus or anti-spyware programs you may have running. You can turn them on again after you've installed KleenWeb
  • Close and exit any/all programs you now have open or running - Internet messaging applications (like MSN Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger), File sharing applications (like Kazaa, BitTorrent, BearShare), Voice over IP (VOIP) applications (like Skype or SIP), and/or any other open files or programs. The bottom bar of your screen usually indicates what is active or open.
  • Set Messaging, file sharing, or VOIP applications to NOT automatically start on user login until after you complete the entire KleenWeb installation. These applications will not be able connect to the Internet on restart until you have chosen a KleenWeb Profile - which occurs after a restart.
  • Turn off Internet Explorer’s Content Advisor or any similar function in alternate browsers if you have enabled it previously.
  • In some cases, Norton (Symantec) Internet Security Suite may block Internet traffic going through KleenWeb. To open the ports required for KleenWeb to function and to restore your connection, do the following:
    • Right click on the Norton globe icon in the Windows Notification Area.
    • Select Options > Internet Security.
    • In the Norton Internet Security options dialog, select the Firewall tab.
    • In the HTTP port list, select 80 and click Remove.
    • Select 8080 and click Remove.
    • Select OK.
  • If you have a firewall installed, disable it before installing KleenWeb, After installing Kleenweb, you can enable the firewall again. You will, however, need to adjust your firewall settings to always allow KleenWeb's program “nsfx.exe” to access to the Internet.
  • Internet accelerators (such as SlipStream or Propel) may work better if they are installed before Kleenweb is installed. So, if you have an internet accelerator already installed, all is well. But if you intend to install one after installing KleenWeb, it may better to uninstall Kleenweb, install the accelerator, and then reinstall KleenWeb.
